A cheerful 13-year-old girl who was raised in a remote, reclaimed village.
She holds a strange power that allows her to fly in the sky.  She and her
childhood friend Rena are scouted out and enrolled in a magic school on 
the island of Iyen, which travels all over the world.  Elie's open-minded 
and doesn't sweat the small stuff; she's always dragged into Rena and
Senia's adventures.  Flame magic is her speciality.

Elie's 13-year-old childhood friend.  She's the biggest glutton in her
village and loves to chatter  -  and she has a preternatural sense of
curiosity on top of that.  Rena's very charming when she's cheerful and 
lively, but she seems to be accident-prone.  She's sensitive about her 
height, and she often gets into good-natured quarrles with her friend 
Senia.  Healing magic is her speciality.  She's completely tone-deaf.

The 14-year-old daughter of the chief of the beastman race; she enrolls in
the magic school at the same time as Elie and Rena.  Powerful lightning 
magic is her speciality.  She has a mannish personality and is slightly 
(?) mouthy and argumentative, but in front of her beloved Azu, she's a 
loving girl.  She's always arguing with Rena; together, the two of them 
are an endless source of grief for the teachers in the magic school.
